My former place of employment is sending solar powered audio bibles to Haiti.

The only thing more worthless would be sending 16,000 soldiers.

3 sucka ass fools had something to say:

Why is sending the soldiers to Haiti worthless?

Soldiers stand around with guns. Haiti needs surgeons, not a military occupation.

The Pan American Health Organization reports that a grand total of 121 people have been rescued from rubble. Even though the US marines are not responsible for anywhere near the total of 121--giving them the benefit of the doubt, and assuming they were: what is 121 divided by 16,000?

Doctors can't do their job if they don't have stability around them.

It seems that there is a lot more than rubble rescuing to be done in Haiti. (e.g. water, roads, supplies) Lives saved should include those who got biscuits and bottled water.

The reports of looting and chaos may be overstated or limited to parts of Port-Au-Prince, but its not as simple as dropping docs in on parachutes.
